Yet Another OS X Software List
Time for another software list! Here's a list of the software I've either grown to love or paid for. Maybe you'll find something your don't know about and will love. Maybe you already know about it all already. Donno. I just wrote the list.
Freeware
Emacs: The One True Way. Ask me no questions, Peon.
Org-Mode: While this is "only" an Emacs mode, it kicks so much ass in such a remarkable, spectacular fashion, that it is worthy of its own entry.
Adium : Instant messaging client.
Colloquy : IRC client
TrueCrypt: Multi-platform disk encryption.
KeyPassX : Password manager
Skype: For when I travel.
Oracle SQL Developer: Oracle-specific Database IDE. I use Oracle. A lot.
HandBrake: I ♥ my AppleTV.
JarInspector: Jar file viewer.
smcFanControl: Don't want to burn my desk. Or my crotch. Mostly concerned about my crotch.
Google Earth: Duh.
Firefox: Safari? Firefox? Depends on the color of socks I'm wearing. Or the Safari-incompatible-site that I'm browsing.
Eclipse: Java IDE. Tend to live it in, but I will ascend to strict use of the JDEE someday soon.
Pay-Toll-To-The-Troll
LaunchBar: I ♥ Cmd-Space.
Little Snitch: Outgoing connection monitor.
OmniGraffle Pro: Best thing since Diagram on NeXT, worth every dime.
Parallels: Desktop virtualization.
DEVONthink Pro : "Personal Information Assistant". Love the app, but has been less-than-used since my conversion to Org-Mode Freak-dom.
Aqua Data Studio: Multi-platform database IDE. Sweeeet.
PandoraJam: Thank all things holy for PandoraJam. I depend on Pandora to discover new artists, and this app just makes my life happy.
VoodooPad: Another great app that has fallen by the way-side as of late.
Transmit: FTP client.
Versions: Subversion client. Still in beta, but I'm fairly certain they're going to start charging for it when it hits 1.0. And I'll buy it, cuz it rocks.
Unison: Usenet news reader. Heavily neglected, but I bought it, so I'm listing it.
CandyBar: Icon organizer. Fairly well neglected these days, as well.
Logic Pro: Music production. Because I'm a fucking genious. You just don't know about it because I've wasted far too much time in my life doing things like "working"...and "paying bills"...and "playing in bands that broke up"...sigh.
